To be called an architedt, one must have passed a state board exam and be a member of the American Institute of Architects. California Law requires Contractors Licenses for Contractors and builders as well. So make sure the people you deal with have credentials. Verify architects credentials with the AIA. To check for a valid contractors license call The State Contractors Board. If youo do business with the good guys, your probability of design build success will be on another planet.

Most existing wood frame wood houses were designed for roof loads of less than 700 lbs per square.
